Intro

This site is a technical blog about TYPO3 content management system (more). Latest articles are below for your convenience. Clicking on the title will show you the full article. Thank you for coming!

Yesteday I lost 1.5 hours trying to install PHP 5.1.6 as Apache2 module on Windows. MySQL and MCrypt did not want to work. I even copied related DLLs to ext/ folder but all was useless.

Without believing to success I copied libmysql and libmcrypt DLLs to windows\system32 and... it worked! By definition it should work if all dependent DLLs are in the same directory but it did not for unknown reason.

Anyway, it works now and I am posting it here for those who can encounter the same problem.

Read about it on the new TYPO3 blog by Web-Crossing.

Today I got a message saying that blender.org is now using TYPO3 and TemplaVoila! Blender is a very impressive 3D modelling suite, similar to 3DMax and other industry leading tools. It is open source and it is free!

I am very happy to know that a site of such amazing product uses results of my work too!

I had to revert my performance enhancements for BE in TYPO3 4.1. The argument for this was that some users may not have AllowOverride Indexes in their Apache configuration and error messages may appear for them. I am not sure that there are so many such users but... The result is that none of 4.1 users will get this enhancement by default, which makes me feel very sad.

If you still want this enhancement, you can either do it manually (see NEWS.txt in TYPO3 package) or use this script....

Did you read about Copiepresse case about Google? In my opinion Copiepresse behavior is very stupid. They did not use web standards to exclude their pages from search, they did not contact Google to remove their pages from Google index but started a case against Google. Now Google simply removed all their pages from its index. Who won? Even if Copiepresse gets its money, they are still lost because no one now will find them on the Internet. Stupid, aren't they? Why they cannot go normal way...

Since I added that nice script (thanks to Thomas Hempel!) to protect blog from spamming, I got much less spam. But spammers started to spam my e-mail using contact form. But they got caught by SpamAssassin and marked as necessary. Now I wrote simple procmail recipe to forrward them to /dev/null...

Do you know that there is a map, where you can see TYPO3 community members? No? Then look here!

It seems like latest TemplaVoila got a bug in. Sympthoms are simple: after mapping you cannot see any output in FE. It happens if you:

Create new DS/TO or use "Modify DS/TO"Go and "Update mapping"

I think I know where the problem is and you may get this unnofficial version of TemplaVoila to see if it helps. Drop me a message using comment form below to see if it helps.

I am a bit tired of spam on this blog. I do not want to disable comments completely and I do not want to use captcha either. I am going to make a new plugin to filter all comments through SpamAssassin and post only those comments that are spam free.

Interested? Drop a message below.

Thanks again to Stefan Völker! He did sponsor me again after several other bug fixes! This is really energizing!
