Finally, I created SpamAssassin rules to filter out spam from Google mailservers. Itappears that all messages are sent by the same software. Possibly it uses Google vulnerability discovered some time ago (and not fixed till now as it seems). All messages have several identifying characteristics. I will not tell all that I found because it will be easy for spammers to "fix" their software. However one thing can be made public.

All these messages has a link to a web site hosted at...

Usually I get very little amount of spam. I have a very good anti-spam setup, which I will describe some time in future. Normally I do not get any spam at all. But recently Istarted to get 2-3 spam messages a day. Not a big deal but annoying. I usually check all such messages to see where they come from. And currently all of them have headers like:

Microsoft released new version of their messenger for Mac. It looks better than old very6. I am going to try it (just to see how it works). I stopped using Microsoft softwarec ompletely and I am quite happy with aMSN for messaging with other users of Microsoft Messenger. But I still want to give new messenger a try and see how good or bad it is.

I wonder why my Amazon package is stuck for more than two days at DHL facility in "Staufenberg DE"? What prevents them from sending it further?

I googled for "Amazon DHL" and found only negative feedbacks about delivery when DHL delivers Amazon packages. I finally decided to order Getting Things Done, Don't Make Me Think!, and Designing Interactions. I wanted these three books for a long time but delivery from any Amazon to Latvia costs a lot of money (from 10€ per item), so when a book costs 7€ you will think twice before paying more for delivery. But sooner or later I would buy these books anyway, so I spent the rest of my Moneybookers donations to them. Now can't wait to receive them and start reading. I wanted them for soooooooo long!

Unlike computers, people do not have memory that fixes everything and keeps it fixed. People may forget all or some information. Today I forgot that tt_news has two different hooks for extra markers: one for news items (called in a loop, named extraItemMarkerProcessor) and another is for the compiled output (called just before final substitution of all markers, named extraGlobalMarkerHook).

T3DD08 is over. This was great event: lots of interesting talks and lots of interesting discussions. Really good recreation as well (especially pool night on Saturday). I have some fascinating ideas, which I may put at work soon. Due to this I had to put "unavailable" flag for any freelance work. I truly need to think about ideas that I have and make some prototypes.

Jens Hoffman said aloud an idea, which I know for a long time but which is not heard as often as it should be: "Do not make a feature just because you can". This is really right thing! Things should not be made just because it is possible to make them. They should be made only if necessary. It perfectly follows KISS principle ("Keep it simple, stupid!"). Life is complex enough, there is no need to make it even more complex!
